 Our diversified practice of over 300 collaborators have developed a body of work that range from showrooms and residences to large scale planning. Our expertise is in mixed-use development, hospitality, particle therapy and health care, residential, science and research, manufacturing and cultural facilities. Our offices are in Chicago, Washington DC and Seattle in the United States, Beijing, Shanghai, Hong Kong and Shenzhen in China, Sao Paolo in Brazil and Barcelona in Spain.

 

 

HCD – Principles

 

 We approach our work with a long-term vision that balance the pragmatic, economic, and social goals as both as professional and citizens. Our Principles of Practice:

 

• Coherence - our process clearly defines the set of values and intentions that inform the program from which we proceed to develop the research and responses that shape outcomes that respond to context, program goals and community responsibility.

• Rigour – our work is demanding in content and economical in means. In planning, architecture and design we look to the development of an authentic language that shapes outcomes relevant now and throughout the lifetime of their use.

• Openness – our work is accessible to the diverse initiatives of theory and practice and the dialogue that is the foundation of the architect, client and community process.

• Innovation – our work demonstrates a focused application of energy, courage and intuition that considers how people will use, operate and inhabit our work creating an enhanced social, environmental and economically viable outcome that is as innovative as it is inspiring.

• Citizenship – Our work exhibits “Value and Values”. We take our responsibilities as Citizens to create “value” in the usefulness, longevity and elegance of our work and that this work has “value” because it embodies “values” of responsible stewardship for our communities local and global.

 

 

HCD stands for Healthy City Design and in Chinese Hui Cheng Design which is similar meaning. Healthy City is a wholistic approach to design that embeds research as the foundation to strategies concerning the social, economic and environmental well -being of the community, city, country and cosmos.
