The Crowne Plaza Shenzhen WECC is located along the edge of Zhujiang River Estuary that connects directly to the South China sea on the Southern coast of China in the City of Shenzhen and adjacent to the new Shenzhen World Exhibition & Convention Centre, the largest convention center in the world.  Currently under construction a new business district developed by OCT Shenzhen of over 200,000 SM, which was planned and designed by HCD. The centerpiece of this district is the new Crown Plaza Shenzhen WECC 5 Star hotel.   This hotel has 298 keys and will be the first Crowne Plaza in Greater China to tout modernized guestroom design and flexible spaces. The property will feature 1,400 SM of meeting space with five meetings rooms, including a grand ballroom that seats up to 500 guests, three restaurants and both spa and fitness facilities including an infinite pool on the roof overlooking the river and the convention center. The Z shaped plan creates beautiful open spaces facing on both the south with a landscaped plaza which opens up to this new district and a garden to the North with a view of the River and the new Convention Center and supports outdoor dining, entertainment and events. This project shows the significance of how planning can position hotels to become more than just a hospitality offering but the heart and living room of a community.
