Vanke Guangzhou Cloud Design Commune

Guangzhou, Guangdong Province, China

Vanke Cloud is the first prototype future urban office and mixed- use project to mark a transition from large scale residential communities to urban Infill that serves to reinforce existing metropolitan communities with commercial "Institutions" of the future. This 37,500 SM development was developed under the theme of design community and inspired by collaborative flexible working space as well as the spatial encouragement of communication amongst the residents of the building, Unlike standard office complexes with one central core, four smaller cores are used to support stacked horizontal blocks of "warehouse loft" office space that rotate 90 degree every three of four stories.  At the base of the building there Is a conference facility below grade that connects to the adjacent shopping mall and the apartment. It rises to the ground floor through gallery space to encourage people accessing the complex with entrances at the north and south. This arrangement creates a central courtyard that Is served by a book bar, shops and an open creative market serving both the users of the building as well as engaging the surrounding community. The protype looks to the future by developing new approaches to the workplace and creating community Institutions.
