Invited competition for the expansion of the National Gallery in Berlin.
The Berlin 20th Century Museum is an expansion of the landmark Berlin National Gallery designed by Mies Van Der Rohe and completed in 1968. The program of the museum will be to exhibit art created post 1945, the end of World War ll and to serve as the Museums center of Education. The proposal which develops a formal language of the square pavilion as developed in the original museum and inspired by the art of Kazimir Malevich but inverses the relationship of square on top of a solid podium to a series of square with a porous podium that integrates the surrounding dynamic urban fabric of this district in Berlin.
