Broward County Convention Center Expansion and New Headquarters Hotel

Winning competition entry for a new 1.3 million sf expansion of the existing convention center complex in Fort Lauderdale, Florida located on the inter-coastal waterfront. Project Includes new convention and meeting facilities, a 1000 room headquarters hotel with significant meeting spaces and retail at the ground level. The public open space connects the waterfront to this facility while upper level terraces allow views of the ocean and the Cruise ship terminals adjacent to this complex. The significance of the emphasis on dynamic open space connected horizontally and vertically is to leverage the location and create the social discourse and activities that returns the spirit back into the community that has long been absent.
